Pilgrimage, history, and devotion

Guild of Our Lady of Grace of Ipswich

The Guild of Our Lady of Grace of Ipswich was formed in 1977 with the aim of promoting devotion to Our Lady of Grace and encouraging prayer for Christian unity.

The Guild was also founded to support efforts to re-establish the historic shrine of Our Lady of Grace in Ipswich, which had been lost during the English Reformation.

For a period the group used the name Merymana, taken from the house in Ephesus traditionally associated with the later life of the Virgin Mary and a place of pilgrimage for Christians and Muslims.

The Guild has now returned to its original name and continues to build on the work of its founding members.

On 26 March 2022, a service of rededication took place at St Mary at the Elms Church in Ipswich. The ceremony renewed the Guild’s commitment to promoting devotion to Our Lady of Grace and supporting the shrine.
